Ways of Studies

Faculty of Engineering - The Studies

There is a unified credit system at the Czech University of Life Sciences and its main objective is to make the studies compatible with the EU environment and to facilitate the student mobility - i.e. to allow them to take a part of their studies abroad. ECTS is the credit system basis (European Credit Transfer System).

Organisation of Studies

The studies at Technical Faculty follow the Study and Examination Rules in the BSc and MSc Study Programmes, and also the study plans for the given academic year. Practicals are part of the studies.  The study programme includes a two-week practical placement during the long vacation. Among the main forms of studies are lectures, practical training, seminars, excursions and practical placement. Each semester-subject is concluded by a pass or by a pass and an examination. Lectures are usually not compulsory while other forms of studies are compulsory. The Study and Examination Rules..... require the student to pass the relevant passes and examinations by mid September each academic year (details are given in the schedule for each academic year). The Bachelor Degree studies are concluded by the State Bachelor Examination at the end of the 3rd year, which means a defence of the Bachelor-Degree thesis and passing examinations in selected complex subjects. Having passed the required procedure the graduate achieves the degree of Bachelor (Bc).  The follow-up Master Degree studies are concluded by the State Final Examination which consists in a thesis defence and passing examinations in complex subjects. The graduate is conferred upon the degree of Ingenieur (abbreviated as Ing.).

Social background

The catering facilities (Menza) on the campus provide breakfasts, lunches and evening meals in three dining halls. Modern halls of residence offer accommodation. There is no legal right to be accommodated on the campus and priority is given to students from the more distant places of permanent address. All students can enjoy the on-campus health care. Individual studies, cultural and social events, etc. are facilitated by a number of clubrooms, computer rooms, video and audio study rooms, and social facilities with a restaurant and snack bars. Sports can be gone-in for in two gymnasiums with a body-building area, a covered swimming pool, several pitches for ball games, tennis courts, track and field area, and a football pitch.
