Project description: The main objective of the project under the Aid for Trade programme is to strengthen the business structures and linkages between the Cambodian private sector and the local government, as well as with foreign business partners, based on the agribusiness experience transferred. The objective was achieved in particular by supporting the capacities of Cambodian enterprises and associations involved in the production and processing of agricultural products, as well as Cambodian government institutions involved in the agribusiness sector.
The main project activities include the organisation of two one-week trips abroad: experts from the Czech Republic to Cambodia and from Cambodia to the Czech Republic. The main focus of the mission to Cambodia was to visit Cambodian enterprises (focusing mainly on the production of agricultural products, with already (partially) established or planned processing technologies) and the implementation of a Round Table with the participation of Cambodian ministries, authorities and private enterprises and agricultural associations. The Roundtable discussion focused mainly on how the potential of Cambodia's agribusiness can be translated into commercial advantages and benefits.
Representatives from Cambodian ministries (Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Ministry of Commerce) and the private sector participated in the trip. The main focus of the trip was not only visits to selected enterprises focused on the processing of agricultural products, but also training on procedures for achieving quality standards for agro-products required for import into the Czech Republic. Finally, a Round Table was organized with representatives of Czech ministries, private companies, CRA and PPZRS CR.
